Mineralogical Info | Dogtooth Calcite, named for its sharply pointed scalenohedral formations, is a classic expression of calcite’s crystalline geometry. These striking mineral specimens from Fujian Province are adorned with glistening Sugar Quartz microcrystals, named for their fine, sparkly texture reminiscent of crystalline sugar.  As a third layer of growth we have golden inclusions of Pyrite.

The calcite’s scalenohedral growth is a visual cue of its trigonal system, often forming in low-temperature hydrothermal veins. The sparkling Sugar Quartz coating suggests a secondary growth phase, while Pyrite’s presence hints at a sulfur-rich environment with significant geothermal activity.

These mineral associations tell a layered geological story!  A slow symphony of heat, pressure, and time forged these beautiful crystals into structure.
