Shakti Quartz: Awakening the Inner Flame

Discovered in Bassa, Plateau State, Nigeria in October 2024, Shakti Quartz is a brand new find that I have been holding in sacred space for nearly a year before offering it now. These rare crystals are quartz infused with hematite, their bodies alive with glowing red inclusions that resemble embers resting within clear light. Each one feels like a flame held safely in stone.

Why the Name Shakti Quartz?

You may be familiar with the term “Kundalini Quartz,” which has long been used in the crystal community to describe natural Congo Citrine.  These are candle-like citrine clusters known for activating the rising kundalini energy. Out of respect for that established name and tradition, I chose not to call these Nigerian hematite quartz “Kundalini Quartz.”

And yet, when I first held these crystals, I felt the same sacred feminine life-force awakening in their energy: that pulse of creation, transformation, and divine fire. The word Shakti arose strongly in my heart.

In Sanskrit, Shakti means “divine feminine power, life-force, creative energy.” It is the current of energy that kundalini represents. Naming these crystals Shakti Quartz is my way of honoring that essence of the embodied flame of the feminine, the soul-force that rises and awakens us.

Shakti Quartz comes to us during a season of balance and rebirth! They were discovered at the turning of the Earth, now shared during the equinox’s call to harmony. These crystals are not only stunning in their appearance, but also timely allies for awakening, balance, and empowerment.

And thus, Shakti Quartz honors the divine feminine life-force: the same current of energy known in ancient traditions as kundalini. Just as kundalini rests coiled at the root chakra before rising like sacred fire, these crystals embody both grounding and illumination. They are at once earthy and celestial, stabilizing and awakening.

Unique Markings: Record Keepers, Trigons & Candle Growth

• Record Keepers: tiny raised or recessed triangles on the crystal’s faces that point up. These are said to be energetic keys, holding ancient wisdom encoded in the quartz. Meditating with a Record Keeper can open access to higher knowledge, past-life memories, and spiritual downloads.
• Trigons: triangular growth patterns that appear etched into the crystal’s surface that point down. Spiritually, trigons are considered signatures of ancient lineage, reminders of the crystal’s connection to universal geometry and sacred truths.
•  Cathedral Growth: some specimens also display the majestic cathedral quartz formation, where smaller points cluster and rise around a central main point, creating the appearance of towers or spires. This structure is often called a Lightbrary,  a "library of light," said to hold collective wisdom for all who are ready to receive it. Seeing this growth habit in Shakti Quartz creates a natural resonance with the idea of kundalini’s rise: energy ascending in unison, guided by a central flame.
